Live-in care presents unique challenges and rewards. It requires a knowledgeable and compassionate approach to creating respectful relationships between customers and caregivers. With over 50 years of experience providing cost effective live-in caregiving solutions, our service has become the leader in this area.
Some of the important benefits of live-in care include: cost efficiency, continuity, and a close relationship. Over the years, some of our customers have told us that after using many different shift workers, setting up a live-in caregiver eliminated the confusion created by the "revolving door effect" of having many different faces attempting to cover an around-the clock schedule.
While live-in care is very cost effective, it may not be appropriate in all situations. One of the most important criteria in determining the viability of a live-in situation is the amount of sleep available to the caregiver during the night. Of course, a reasonable amount of sleep is needed in order to perform the activities of their job successfully. Our specially trained placement coordinators will assist families in assessing their needs to determine if their loved one is a qualified candidate for the benefits of live-in care.
For situations where the care requirements during the overnight hours become excessive, a night shift overlay can be utilized on an interim or long term basis to ensure reasonable and appropriate rest for the live-in caregiver thus preserving the well established customer-caregiver relationship.

The Alzheimer's caregivers we refer are focused on creating a safe, comfortable, and caring environment for your loved one. Because Alzheimer's symptoms can be challenging for patients and family members alike, the caregiver looks for opportunities to help your loved one succeed at familiar tasks they do in their homes. By getting to know the patient, caregivers can customize an appropriate set of daily activities.
Managing basic activities such as eating and dressing can be very challenging for advanced Alzheimer’s patients. Studies have shown that the best place for a person with memory loss is in familiar surroundings. We believe that offering care to an Alzheimer's patient in their own home will give individuals suffering from this disease a better opportunity to live a dignified and meaningful lifestyle.
The caregivers provide a valuable, trusted resource that will help your loved one maintain a regular routine and enhance his or her quality of life with dignity and compassion. Such care also helps family members cope with the challenges of dementia.
Our Director and Social Worker are available for a free care plan consultation to all of our customer families.
Mass Hospice & Palliative Care Federation, Philosophy (from hospicefed.org):
The hospice philosophy recognizes that every person deserves to live out his or her life with respect and dignity, alert and free of pain, in an environment that promotes quality of life. From its beginnings, hospice has focused on the whole person - body, mind and spirit - with an understanding that serious illness profoundly impacts not only the patient, but family and loved ones as well.
For over twenty years, Sostek Home Care has worked closely with local hospice groups to provide supplemental caregiving to patients and their families in order to preserve hospice services in a patient's home. Because we have been working with hospice customers for over two decades, the caregivers we refer are very familiar with end-of-life care and are able to assist the hospice patient in remaining comfortable in their home, wherever home may be.
The caregiver is able to help carry out the instructions of the hospice team. Some of the benefits of having an experienced caregiver in addition to hospice provided services include:

We also offer short term respite care services which are designed to provide a temporary break for a family member who is the primary caregiver. Respite care can be provided in the home or in a long-term care facility and can vary from a few hours to several weeks, depending on the customer's needs. This care option gives the primary caregiver some relief from an often emotionally exhausting and stressful experience. Our team works closely with the caregivers and patients to create a respite care schedule.
You can contact us for a short-term respite care option for as much or as little time as
