Now serving our fourth generation of satisfied families, Sostek Home Care is a family owned and operated home care service based in Newton, Massachusetts.  Established in 1955 as a maternity care agency, over the past few years we have fully transitioned and are now exclusively focused on senior care. Our founder's vision for high quality, personalized care has become the cornerstone of our company and our many satisfied customers have experienced first hand that Sostek Home Care is synonymous with excellence.

Our Director and Social Worker, both with over twenty years of experience in geriatric care, lead free and open to the public balance workshops for seniors in the community in order to build confidence and independence leading to a higher quality of life for the senior.

Our Director Donald Sostek has served on the board of directors of the Alzheimer's Association's MA/NH chapter. Mr. Sostek also does free consulting for our customers and any member of their family in the area of Alzheimer's education and awareness.

Sostek Home Care is not your typical home care company. We operate as a consumer-directed home care referral service. This means that our customers have the ability to choose the services that best suit their lifestyle and budget. Because the caregiver works for you, your loved ones are able to receive the quantity, quality, continuity, responsiveness and duration of care, just the way you want it. With you in control of all the things that are important to you, we are able to match your loved one with just the right caregiver. The caregivers we refer to our customers are able to carry out a multitude of care giving tasks such as medication management, transportation, and other important functions in addition to personal care, companionship, and meal preparation.

By unbundling the agency and caregiver rates, we are able to fully disclose to our customers what portion of their cost is allocated to the caregiver and what portion goes to the company as an administrative fee. Contrary to the industry practice of non-disclosure, we believe our customers appreciate knowing exactly how much the caregiver gets paid for the compassionate work they perform. The Team Approach

  • When you first call Sostek Home Care, you will speak directly with one of our friendly, trained placement coordinators. All of our employees go through extensive training in order to learn the process of placing a caregiver with a customer. Many times, a customer is calling to seek care for the first time and may have many questions - that's OK! We know the process can be overwhelming, and we are happy to provide clear, easy to understand answers to all of your questions. Our placement coordinators will be there for you every step of the way. Our goal is to have 100% of our customers tell us they love their caregiver.  In other words, we want to make it the perfect fit for you!
  • Our full office staff is available during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. During off-hours and over the weekend, we always have a member of our staff on call and accessible through a special on-call phone line to assist you with any situation or question. The after-hours staff member can even arrange an emergency caregiver placement if needed. Simply call our office to be connected after hours.
  • When you call us, you will always be speaking with a trained employee from our office staff, you will never be routed through a call center or an automated switchboard. Our professional care specialists will get to know you and your situation personally, and will be aware of any special circumstances.
  • All of our care coordinators will be familiar with your case. This ensures that when you call, your questions or concerns can be answered in a timely manner by whomever answers your call.  We know that your time is valuable and by using this team approach, we don't waste your time.
  • If, for any reason, one of our care coordinators is unable to provide sufficient information to answer your question, our Director, Donald Sostek, will be happy to speak with you. Our goal is to ensure all questions are addressed comprehensively and thoroughly in order to meet your needs. If after-hours are more convenient for you, our director will return calls whenever you are available.

Many of the caregivers that Sostek Home Care refers have qualified as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and/or Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA). The caregivers we place are passionate about the care they provide and it is not unusual for a customer to feel as though their caregiver is a part of the family. We have enjoyed professional relationships with some caregivers for over twenty years! New caregivers often join our team because caregivers within our referral network have told them about our values based on excellence, compassion and respect.

In fact, we do not advertise in the newspaper for caregivers; it’s usually word of mouth that brings us together. New caregivers go through an extensive personal interview and screening process before being sent to any customer. We listen carefully to your needs and pledge to achieve the closest possible match. If for any reason you don't think that the match is just right, we will promptly refer another caregiver for your approval.

Payroll Service information
Caregivers referred by us are paid directly by the customer and are not employees of Sostek Home Care. For customers who prefer to have a professional payroll service handle their payroll and withholdings, our trained office staff can refer outstanding professional resources in this area. It's fast, simple, and it saves you time!

Workers Compensation Information
If you are unable to obtain workers compensation through your own insurance agent, please let our staff know. They will quickly refer to you a cost effective professional.

Long-term Care Insurance
We are finding that more and more of our customers now carry private long term care insurance which pays for their home care services. Please let us know if we can assist you in any way in order to access the benefits from your long term care insurance company. We're happy to help, as there can be considerable paperwork involved.

Discounted Private Schedule Management
For individuals and families who have already hired private caregivers on their own but are finding the juggling of schedules burdensome to do by themselves, we can seamlessly manage this responsibility for you at a significantly discounted service charge.

Training and Membership
Sostek Home Care is a member of PCA, Hospice & Palliative Care Federation of MA, and MASSALFA (Assisted Living Federation). Our office staff has completed the Alzheimer's Association "Train the Trainer" program, a program that trains care providers so that they have a more comprehensive understanding of Alzheimer's disease and it's impact on the customer and their loved ones.
